THE Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth will be hosting a birthday breakfast to celebrate 90 years of The Royal British Legion.

On June 10 members of the Portsmouth south branch of the Legion, will tuck into breakfast on view deck one inside the tower in Gunwharf Quays.

And the tower is also hosting The Great Poppy Party Weekend from June 10 to 12, giving Legion members a chance to visit the site at a discounted rate.

Members of the Legion will also be on hand to give information on what the charity does.

Spinnaker commercial manager Paul Mahy said: ‘We’re delighted to be able to support the Legion and help celebrate 90 years by offering the best backdrop in Hampshire for their special party.’

People are also being encouraged to come up with unusual fundraising ideas to raise £1million for the charity.

Clare Peppiatt, community fundraiser for the Hampshire branch of the Legion, said: ‘We are inviting everyone to join in the celebrations by throwing a Great Poppy Party in recognition of this momentous year. And we also want to help the Legion raise funds for the armed forces.’
