EVERY year the Motor Neurone Disease Association marks Global MND Awareness Day with fellow associations and supporters across the world.

This year the Spinnaker Tower will light up in blue to support the awareness campaign.

Sarah Webb, general manager for tower said: ‘We’re proud to continue the awareness of MND by lighting the tower on Sunday and following in the footsteps of Portsmouth City Council, which signed the MND Charter in January.’

Awareness of MND has been heightened by the highly successful global Ice Bucket Challenge of last year and The Theory of Everything film which portrayed the life of Professor Stephen Hawking.

This year’s campaign by the MND Association is Silence Speaks which highlights the fact that many people with MND will lose their voice.

The tower will turn blue this coming Sunday.
