STAFF at the Southern Electric call centre in Havant welcomed a world-class athelete for Sport Relief.
Heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, who recently won a silver medal at the World Indoor Champions in Poland, was all smiles as she toured the huge call centre and chatted with staff.
Tonight staff will be giving up their Friday nights to take answer calls and take donations for Sport Relief.
Katarina judged a bake sale competition and staff organised a raffle. The centre hopes to raise £3,000 today.
Katarina told The News: ‘I’m supporting Sport Relief because it’s a good cause and they raise a lot of money and it’s related to me in some way.
‘When you are in sport and there’s a cause like this, you have to enjoy it.’
Adam Gisby, 27, a deputy manager at the centre, was delighted to meet Katarina.
He said: ‘It’s really good. It’s good watching the Olympics and exciting with the Commonwealth Games coming up. Sport Relief is excellent.
‘It’s a way of making it more interesting and appealing for people.’
