THERE was nothing patchy with the efforts of a stitching group when it came to raising money for a hospice.

The Solent Stitchers, who meet twice a month in the Titchfield Parish Rooms, High Street, Titchfield, pick a cause to fundraise for every two years.

And after a moving speech from the Rowans Hospice, the team decided to raise money for the Purbrook centre.

Sandi Jones, 65, who is co-leader and committee member for the club, said: ‘We had a day where we sold stitched items like quilts, handbags and jewellery.

‘We created a quilt that had a piece from all 50 members.’ She added: ‘Each patch was 12in square.’

This quilt was raffled off along with other prizes.

Money was also raised through a tombola, and in all £1,200 was collected.

A cheque was presented to Lesley Woodcock of the Rowans Hospice.
