STONES weighing 20 kilos came crashing down on to a van from a roof of a home today.

The coping stones fell off the terraced home in Barnes Road, Fratton, earlier this evening at 6.40pm.

Crew manager Rikki Noble, from Southsea fire station, said around 10 to 15 of the stones had fallen on to the Mercedes van, smashing one window.

The crew spent half an hour making the area safe.

Firefighters removed a single errant stone from the roof.

No-one was injured.
