A BOAT shed in Emsworth is filling up as people hand in their treasured items of wood.

The donations will be used to build a unique boat in time for the 2012 London Olympics and organisers say it will be an archive of people’s stories. Recent donations include a box from the decommissioned HMS Ark Royal and cuttings from a juniper bush.

The boat shed, in Thornham Marina, will be closed for the first two weekends in April but will reopen from Sunday, April 15.

People can drop in with pieces of wood that mean something to them between 1pm and 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays and from 10am until 5pm on Sundays. Log on to theboat project.com for more.
