TWO dogs left abandoned with seven others are in need of new homes.

The RSPCA is appealing for people to come forward and take in Dave or Mavis who were discovered with so much matted fur that their breed could not be identified.

Winchester City Council’s animal welfare officers described the discovery of the nine dogs as the worst case they had seen.

But after a transformation, 18-month-old Dave and his sister Mavis are ready to be rehomed.

Dave is looking for someone to adopt him and sister Mavis is in need of a foster home to get her used to a domestic environment. They are both white poodle crosses.

The dogs were treated and cared for at Stubbington Ark, in Fareham, and two of the other dogs have been fostered but the other five still need care before new owners are sought.
