A STRIKE by firefighters has meant a Gosport Fire Station open day planned for today has been called off.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said people still turned up at the fire station only to be turned away.

A spokesman for the service said: ‘Gosport Open Day was due to take place today but was cancelled due to industrial action.

‘We are still providing emergency cover. Dial 999 in the event of an emergency.’
