MUCH-LOVED lollipop lady Jean Betsworth has died aged 74.

Mrs Betsworth, of Queens Crescent, Stubbington helped thousands of children to cross Gosport Road safely during her 25-year career.

She loved her job and was known for calling those who crossed with her ‘my lovelies’.

Mrs Betsworth died on Friday following a short illness.

She leaves behind three children, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and is at rest with husband Burt.

Her funeral will be held at 2.30pm on Wednesday at Portchester Crematorium, followed by drinks at the Crofton Club.
