LORD Mayor of Portsmouth Frank Jonas cuts the cake as the Lime Grove CAPE Forum celebrates a charity barbecue.

The residents’ association held the event to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Cllr Jonas attended the afternoon to support the day as the society is one of his chosen charities this year.

Generous guests helped raise more than £280 for the charity during the day through a raffle, a name the teddy challenge and an auction.

Guests included group chairman Patricia Russell MBE, and Paulsgrove representative Cllr Jim Patey.

The party was hosted by Graham Cranmer, co-chairman of the forum.

He said: ‘The weather was kind to us with almost unbroken sunshine.

‘We thank Mother Kelly’s, who donated the food, Mary Gardener for the cake, Mary Ferris for the naming of the teddy and all the other people who helped to make the day a success.’
