SUSSEX Search and Rescue has received a boost from a £250 donation.

The team will use the money to fund new hi-tech equipment which could aid in finding missing people by better managing resources.

Colin Watson, Sussex Search and Rescue committee member, said: ‘We will use this donation towards the improvement of our team communications.

‘It is our intention to put into place a system whereby our search controllers have real-time, GPS-based, tracking of our search teams on the ground enabling us to maintain greater control of live searches, thereby improving our chance of locating the missing person. Thank you to Sussex police for this generous donation.’

The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund (PPAF), made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.
