A SWAN was rescued after becoming trapped in fishing line.

Officers from West Sussex Fire and Rescue were called out to release the cygnet in Chichester Harbour, close to Birdham, at about 2.30pm on Monday.

The young creature was disentangled from the fishing line with the help of RSPCA officers and reunited with its family. The rescue took about two hours.
