Have your say

THERE’S just over a week until the big day and we want to see your festive pictures in our popular One Christmas Day competition.

As in previous years, all you have to do is capture a suitably festive image on December 25 and send it in to us to be in with a chance of winning a luxury family break with Bunn Leisure.

Last year’s prize was won by Margaret Clark for this picture (right) showing neighbours Kerry Owen and Eric Bartlett, from Hayling Island. The pair were all smiles as they celebrated the day together.

To help you compose a winning picture, our head of images Sarah Standing has the following handy tips:

n Try to avoid a window being in the background.

n Take an upright and a landscape version of your picture and pick the best one.

n Avoid making silly signs in the picture – it might seem fun at the time, but they can ruin an otherwise nice photo.

n Experiment with using the flash – it can greatly improve the lighting of the end result.

n Don’t use your digital zoom too much.

To enter, take a festive picture on Christmas Day.

Once you’ve got the perfect digital shot, e-mail it to onechristmasday@thenews.co.uk with your name, address, a daytime/mobile phone number and a description of the picture and who is in it.

The closing date is midnight on Wednesday, December 28 and all pictures must have been taken on Christmas Day.

If you’ve got any funny or quirky Christmas Day video footage, we’d like to see that as well. The competition is just for photos, but we’ll consider showing any video sent in on our website, portsmouth.co.uk.

Normal News competition rules apply and the editor’s decision is final.

The winner gets a three-night weekend break for up to six people in a Bronze caravan at Selsey-based Bunn Leisure.

It is not available in peak season and school holidays and dates are subject to availability.

The prize doesn’t include food and drink. Transport and travel insurance are not included.

Standard Bunn Leisure terms and conditions apply.
