FOSTER carers and their supporters took part in the Great South Run to boost awareness of the service they offer.

A team of more than 50 carers and young people joined Portsmouth City Council’s fostering service team
for Sunday’s run, running
a combined total of 500
miles.

Council cabinet member for children and education, Councillor Neill Young, was there to support the group.

He said: ‘We are very grateful to the team of runners for taking part in the Great South Run, helping to raise awareness of Portsmouth’s need for more foster carers.

‘Fostering is such an amazing thing to do, and we really need role models for some of our most vulnerable local children and young people.’

The council is looking for foster carers who are able to provide stability and care for children and young people of all ages.
