Emergency services were called to a tower block tonight after a teenager threatened to jump.

Hampshire Constabulary, firefighters from Gosport fire station and South Central Ambulance Service were at the scene of the incident at Seaward Tower, on South Street, in Gosport.

The teenager, who is local to the area, was distressed but was talking to police and negotiators.

Inspector Wendie Douglas, from Fareham and Gosport police, said: ‘A call came in around 5pm of a very distressed woman on top of a tower block.

‘Negotiators were soon on-scene and, with a lot of help from people in the community, they managed to talk the woman down.

‘Around 6.45pm ambulance and fire crews were told they could stand-down.’

Police confirmed the girl was safe at 7.30pm
