AN AFRICAN singing group has got a new venue, new tutor and is now looking for new members.

Africappella, which was started in 2006, now meet at The Learning Place, in Derby Road, North End.

And it is also showing off new singing tutor Claire Cull, who specialises in African music.

The group sing in gospel, Caribbean and African styles every Wednesday evening.

Marie Costa, who is part of the African Women’s Forum and started Africappella, said: ‘I want people to know that regardless of their sex, age, orientation, colour, they are welcome to join us. This is a friendly group and we sometimes raise money for charities. It is so joyous and we encourage people to come along.’

Africappella meet Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 8.30pm. Membership costs £8 per month.
