BUDDING theatre technicians got the chance to learn new skills during a hands-on workshop at The Kings Theatre in Southsea.

Eleven people who are working towards The Association of British Theatre Technicians’ bronze award learned how to work safely on stage and use ladders and scaffolding equipment at the historic venue.

The event also saw guests learn how to transport theatrical scenery on and off stage. Everyone was marked on their abilities.

Paul Edwards, a private tutor working on behalf of the ABTT, said: ‘Everyone passed the workshop and two people were given distinctions because they achieved an 85 per cent pass mark, which was an excellent result.’
