LETTER OF THE DAY: Stunned by price of rail ticket

A school and a doctors' surgery have been hit by thieves who stole the safes in both the buildings.

The thefts from Clanfield Surgery, in White Dirt Lane, and Clanfield Junior School, in Little Hyden Lane, happened on the same day within a few minutes of each other.

In both cases thieves broke into the buildings by forcing open wooden windows.

The offices of both premises were searched and the safes were stolen. Both contained a small amount of cash.

Police are now seeking information following the burglaries which happened on Saturday, October 23 between 6am and 7.30am.

PC Robert Lewis said: 'We are appealing for information and possible witnesses to these break-ins, or for information that will lead to the identity of the people responsible.'

Anyone with information should contact Waterlooville police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
