Thorney Island coastal walk is closed

WORK is well under way on improving a badly worn section of footpath used by walkers.

Chichester Harbour Conservancy, which manages the beauty spot, has closed a section of footpath on Thorney Island, near Emsworth.

The section north of St Nicholas’ Church was narrow, uneven and extremely muddy, making it hard going for even experienced walkers.

While the works are ongoing the path has been closed between the two security gates.

Nicky Horter, from the conservancy, said, ‘As heavy machinery is operating on the site, we have had no alternative but to close the route at the access gates.

‘We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

‘A much improved path will soon be ready for all walkers.’
