SHOPPERS are being thanked after they donated to a collection held by a Rotary club.

Fareham Meon Rotary Club collected more than £3,200 with its Santa float over eight days in December outside Makro, Sainsbury’s and Asda in Fareham.

The club loaned the float, manned by members and parents, to the Catisfield Scout troop, which collected £680 by going door-to-door on four evenings.

The money collected by Rotarians will be spent locally on community projects. The Scouts’ money will used to support the group’s activities.

Rotarian Brian Ray thanked everyone who donated and the stores for allowing them to collect outside.
