Thousands to good causes

HOMER Simpson and a dog dressed as Santa helped collect thousands of pounds for good causes over Christmas.

During two days at Fareham Shopping Centre on December 14 and 15, and at Sainsbury's in Broadcut from December 16 to 18, The Rotary Club of Fareham took donations of more than 2,800.

Club members took it in turns - sometimes with the help of a bit of fancy dress - through some Arctic conditions.

Rotary member Tony Cove said: ‘It was on the Saturday it snowed heavily but the Rotarians managed a continuous presence throughout our allocated times, when we found considerable generosity.'

The money raised will go to a variety of projects including Stubbington Study Centre, the Air Ambulance, KidsOut Day and a small hospital in India.
