CHARACTERS from Alice in Wonderland took over Southsea as part of the Mad Hatters Tea Party.

The event, which took place on Castle Field on Saturday, was organised to increase awareness and raise money for the local branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

People enjoyed tea and cakes and there were performances from dancers, singers and a comedy act.

Visitors also had the chance to take part in a cupcake decorating competition.

Organiser Becki Short said: ‘It was a real family day out. I am very happy. The sun was shining and people were out. It went brilliantly.’

Nicola Glass, 46, from Milton, said: ‘It was good.

‘There was more than I thought there would be.

‘I liked it all, it’s good for all ages.’
