IN THIS season of goodwill, make sure it’s not just the turkey and Christmas stockings that get stuffed this year – remember to fill your recycling bin as well.

Christmas cards, envelopes, biscuit and sweet tins, as well as all the usual items such as plastic bottles, food and drinks cans as well as aerosols can be recycled through kerbside collection in Havant.

Empty glass bottles can be taken to bottle banks, along with empty jars.

Christmas trees can be composted at Household Waste Recycling Centres in Havant and Waterlooville. They are open from 8am to 4pm every day.

Residents who subscribe to Havant Borough Council’s garden waste collection service can recycle their Christmas trees by chopping them up and putting them in their garden waste bag or wheeled bin.

Plastic packaging such as yoghurt pots and margarine tubs, drinks cartons and gift wrapping cannot be recycled. Please put out with rubbish.
