A TEENAGER who lost his mum to cancer will take up a challenge in her memory.

Tom Ingram, 18, whose mum Karen, 40, died five years ago, will cycle 240 miles from Portsmouth to Land’s End for Cancer Research UK.

The ‘Cure 4 Cancer Cycle’ event in August will be done over four days.

Tom , who lives in Cosham, Portsmouth, will be joined by friends and family.

His first fundraising event was held in 2008 at Eastleigh Lakeside Steam Railway.

It raised more than £3,500 for The Rocky Appeal at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Cosham.

It was the family’s way of saying thank you to those at the hospital who had cared and looked after Karen when she was ill.

Tom said: ‘Despite never riding long distance on a bike before, I am hoping the challenge will inspire people to donate.’
