Tony Hewett and Bob Maguire are in training for an 85-mile run - and for that they’re this week’s We Can Do It T-shirt winners.

The pair met at the Portsmouth Joggers club and between them they’ve clocked up many hundreds of miles.

On Saturday, August 27, they will be taking part in the Trail Running Association’s Ridgeway Challenge.

In the process Tony, 33, of Lynton Grove, Copnor, will be raising money for Mary Rose School.

Tony, who is a sports coach at the Southsea school, said: ‘I’ve only been working at the school for about three months and want to help out.

‘It’s a great place to work and the children are fantastic, so I want to try and support them.

‘I’m hoping to raise around £1,000, but it would be great if I can get more. I’m looking forward to the run.’

Joining him will be Bob, of Walker Road, Tipner.

The 61-year-old is no stranger to running as he’s been a member of the Portsmouth Joggers for 25 years.

He said: ‘It’s a very sociable club and running is a great way to keep fit.

‘I’ve done longer races, so am quite used to running distances.’

The run starts from Chiltern Hills, Buckinghamshire and finishes in Avebury, Wiltshire.

The course is likely to take around 20 hours to complete.
