FIREFIGHTERS were called to put out a blaze in a field after a tractor caught fire.
It happened on farmland in the small village of Chidden, about three miles west of Clanfield. A spokesman from Cosham Fire Station said the tractor was completely destroyed in the fire, which happened about 4pm yesterday. He said crews from Horndean and Havant were also called to put out the blaze, as it had spread to the surrounding stubble left in the field after the crops had been cut. Firefighters put out the flames with beaters and hoses.
The spokesman said it was unclear how the fire started.
