City centre road will be closed during weekends

PART of Winston Churchill Avenue in Portsmouth will be closed for six weekends in March and April.

The stretch between Isambard Brunel Road and Bradford Junction will be shut to allow work to be carried out on community facilities in Somers Town. The stretch of road will be closed from 1am on March 9 until 6am on March 11, from 4am on March 16 until 9pm on March 17, and from 6am on March 23 until 9pm on March 24.

In April, the closures will be in place from 6am on April 6 until 9pm on April 7, from 6am on April 13 until 9pm on April 14, and from 6am on April 20 until 9pm on April 21.

The stretch of road will also be shut to pedestrians during the closures.

Portsmouth City Council advises motorists, bus passengers, cyclists and other road users to allow extra time for their journeys during the closures. Diversions will be brought in.
