Roadworks to start in Havant town centre from next week

MAJOR work to transform one of Havant’s busiest roads will begin next week.

Work on revamping Park Road North starts on Monday.

The £600,000 scheme will move on to improvements in Park Road South about a month later.

Work includes widening the pavement in Park Road North and providing a new toucan crossing in West Street.

Steve Mountain, special projects engineer for Havant Borough Council, said: ‘I can now confirm that the contract has been let to Caroway Contractors Ltd of Rowlands Castle.’

The bus lay-by outside McDonald’s will be removed.

And new water design railings will be built at Bosmere Pond.

A meeting has been organised for businesses to hear more about the project. It takes place at The Plaza at 6pm on April 10.
