A MAN has been left with serious injuries after being involved in a crash in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the incident that took place at around 3am.

The 51-year-old man was driving a Vauxhall Vectra on Copnor Road in Hilsea, Portsmouth, when he came off the road near the Green Farm pub and collided with a tree and lamppost. He was taken to Southampton General Hospital by ambulance.

Diversions were put in place at Norway Road and Amberley Road until shortly after 9am to allow the police to carry out their investigation
