Gritters out on county’s roads
THE county council is salting roads across Hampshire this evening.
The first run was due for 6pm and the second gritting is for about 10pm.
In the north of the county salting lorries are being fitted with snow ploughs in case is any large snowfall.
After 10pm the gritters will be on standby in case they are needed again.
Just after 5am tomorrow the council will salt minor roads and community routes.
So far this winter Hampshire County Council has used 8000 tonnes of salt and carried out around 40 salt runs.
Salting lorries have been out every day since the weekend and will continue to be used as needed.

Friday, February 10, 2012 at 08:05 AMThankfully, the brief sprinkling hasn't come to anything and this part of the country has stayed snow-free, and although the temperature's been in minus figures, ice doesn't seem to have been an issue on the back roads either.
