Crash causes tailbacks on the A3

TRAFFIC queues have been building up on the A3 and A3(M) during rush hour after a crash.

Two cars collided on the A3, close to the junction of the A272 at Petersfield, at about 8.15am.

The vehicles, a Peugoet and Astra, were left blocking the outside lane of the carriageway.

Police are arranging the recovery of the vehicles.

No-one was seriously hurt in the collision.

Also I would like to point out that in my experience there is far too much tail gating these days. It's totally unnecessary.

plenty of police on the scene as usual , but no effort to clear the road from them

Deja vu....I was involved in a collision northbound by the lay by just before the Petersfield junction at 7am this morning where a Fiesta went into the back of me in the outside lane! And after the police left the scene, the same officer had stopped just beyond the junction at a 3 car collision. Clearly becoming more of a blackspot!

Second accident in exactly the same spot in a week isn't it? Hope everyone was okay! I drive this way every day and so often see tailbacks all the way past the Horndean turnoff but can't recall any on the southbound side. Wonder what the problem on this stretch is?

I saw 5 cars in the pile up one of which was almost sitting on top of another one, combination of black ice, speed and tailgating. Plenty of police on the scene
