A FIFTH of road markings along the A27 fail to make the grade, according to a new report.

The Road Safety Marking Association (RSMA) assessed more than 1,500 miles of motorways and A-roads.

And it found 20 per cent of markings on a section of the A27 in Hampshire and West Sussex were not up to scratch. Nationally, 29 per cent of white lines reached the acceptable visibility level.
