POLICE had to separate a car and a camper van when they became attached together and blocked a road.
Confused motorists gathered to watch as police used bolt cutters to separate a red Skoda Octavia and a white Peugeot camper van, which had become intertwined and were unable to get themselves free.
The situation came about following an accident in New Road, in Copnor, this afternoon at 1.50pm, when a minor crash involving the two vehicles caused the metal step of the van to get caught beneath the car’s chassis.
A local recovery company was called to help the police separate them, but neither vehicle had to be towed and the road was clear by 3pm.
Two police cars attended the scene and no one was injured in the accident.
