A PEDESTRIAN was taken to hospital last night with head injuries after attempting to beat the railway barriers at Cosham.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said the male pedestrian was hit on the head by the barrier as he tried to cross from one side of the line, which bisects Cosham High Street, to the other.

The incident happened at around 9.40pm last night, and the man was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital for treatment.
