AN appeal to find loving new homes for greyhounds in south Hampshire has attracted the backing of an international company.
Greyhound UK, which operates coaches from Portsmouth, has pledged its support to the Retired Greyhound Trust after the charity announced its homing figures were down.
The charity saw a rise in the number of dogs it had to look after following the closure of Portsmouth’s greyhound stadium.
Greyhound UK recruited athlete and dog enthusiast Iwan Thomas to kick off the partnership between the two organisations and start the hunt for new homes for greyhounds in kennels.
He said: ‘Greyhounds are wonderful dogs so it’s great to see a company of the stature of Greyhound UK get behind such a worthy charity.’
Marc Reddy of Greyhound UK added: ‘The iconic, sleek, Greyhound logo is one of the most recognised in the world.
‘In the UK, we want to give something back to our four-legged friends that have done so much for our business.’
