A MOTORCYCLIST has died and another man is seriously ill in hospital after a crash on a rural road.

A 41-year-old man from Liss, near Petersfield, was riding a red Yamaha R1 when he collided with a blue Volvo S60 on the A285 at Petworth, West Sussex.

Emergency services were called at about 4.45pm on Saturday, but were unable to save the man’s life.

He has not yet been named.

The Volvo driver, a 37-year-old man from Bognor, was taken to St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester, where he is receiving treatment for serious injuries. Any witnesses to the crash should call police on 101.
