A CHARITY has praised the work being done to help ensure the blue badge scheme is run for the benefit of disabled drivers.

Helen Dolphin, of Disabled Motoring UK, said: ‘Portsmouth is one authority which is actually doing something about the abuse.

‘It’s shocking the people they discover who are misusing the scheme.

‘We believe all authorities should be tackling fraud and bringing offenders to justice.

‘It is only then that the badge scheme will truly be a scheme that benefits disabled people, and not just those who are too lazy or selfish to walk that little bit further.’
