Crossing fault delays trains

A level crossing fault delayed trains on the Portsmouth-Waterloo line today.

South West Trains said that the snag at the crossing at Sheet, near Petersfield, meant trains were having to run at reduced speed on all lines.

A spokesman said: ‘Train services running through this station may be delayed by up to 20 minutess or revised. Disruption is expected until 10am today.

‘In order to prevent the local disruption from affecting a more widespread area, we may need to alter some services.

‘We’re sorry for the disruption to customers’ journeys today.’
