POLICE have closed a road following a crash involving a cyclist and a car.

Cromwell Road in Eastney is currently shut while officers investigate an accident in which a cyclist was knocked off his bike by a silver Mercedes.

Police were called to its junction with Highland Road today at 8.45am following reports a man was bleeding and lying in the road.

He suffered a cut to the back of his head and has been taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham with minor head, back and arm injuries.
