A car bonnet flipping up and smashing its windscreen caused delays on the M275 this morning.

Drivers heading out of Portsmouth on the northbound carriageway face delays following the incident just after 8.30am.

The incident happened on the outer lane of the motorway and the vehicle was a grey Honda Civic.

A rolling road block had been put in place by Hampshire Constabulary, while the car was being recovered.

The road was fully re-opened at 9.15am.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘A woman’s car has a smashed windscreen after her bumper flew up.

‘The car had broken down in lane three of the motorway, and the driver was stranded on the central reservation.’

The driver, believed to be in her 20s, was uninjured.
