A DISABLED pensioner has thanked firefighters for their help following a road accident.

Stephen Searle, 65, was trying to reverse out of a parking space in Port Solent when he accidentally went forward and crashed into a parking sign, before rolling over a pile of rocks and hitting a post attached to the Snow + Rock ski shop. Firefighters helped him into a wheelchair in the back of his car before safely getting him out. The incident happened Saturday afternoon.

Mr Searle, of Portsmouth, said: ‘They were very good to me and the staff at Port Solent offered me a warm drink.’
