AN 86-YEAR-OLD man suffered life-threatening injuries after his car crashed into a barrier on the M3.

The pensioner, who is from Lee-on-the-Solent, was driving a white Ford Ka vehicle when the accident happened at the junction 11 southbound carriageway near Compton.

He was taken by medics to Southampton General Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, which happened at 5.05pm on Saturday evening.

A police spokesman said: ‘The cause of the collision is under investigation.’
