A RACING driver has died after a crash at the Goodwood racecourse.

Sandra Harrison-Moore, 37, was killed after appearing to lose control of her car during a time trial, Sussex Police said.

Ms Harrison-Moore, of Blackthorn Grove, Milton Keynes, was driving a Caterham-type sports car and died later in hospital.

Police said she crashed on Saturday after coming out of the last bend in the trial and hitting a tyre wall.

She was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries after the crash at 2.50pm.

Inspector Phil Nicholas said: ‘This appears to have been a tragic crash during a regular time trial event and our thoughts go to the victim’s family, who were with her when she died.’

He said Sussex road policing officers were called to the circuit and had been investigating the crash, but there was no evidence of any other vehicle being involved.

Insp Nicholas said the event was organised by the Motor Sports Association.
