FIREFIGHTERS were called to a car fire on the A27 last night.

The owner of a Ford Puma dialled 999 at 9pm after the engine of their car, which was on the hard shoulder, caught alight.

Crews from Havant went to the scene, on the eastbound carriageway just outside Chichester, and extinguished the flames.

Police closed part of the road for a few minutes whilst they arranged for the vehicle to be towed away.

The motorist didn’t suffer any injuries.
