A 23-YEAR-OLD man is in a critical condition after his car overturned near Bishops Waltham in the early hours of this morning.

The crash, involving a blue Ford Fiesta, happened in Botley Road, close to Maple Farm, Curdridge, around 2.40am.

A member of the public reported the collision after discovering the car overturned in a field.

Police think the driver of the car, a 23-year-old man, was travelling south from the direction of Bishops Waltham when, for reasons yet to be established, he lost control of his vehicle.

He was cut from the car by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and taken to Southampton General Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

His family has been informed.

A witness appeal has been put out by Hampshire Constabulary.

Anyone who saw the crash, or the car prior to the incident, should call the Whitchurch roads policing unit on 101, quoting Operation Severn.
