THERE will be road closures and traffic disruptions during Wickham Horse Fair.

Officers at Hampshire Constabulary are advising drivers over traffic problems during the fair, to be held on Monday.

The fair will be held at The Square, Wickham, which will be closed to traffic from 5am until 8pm on the day.

And the A334 Winchester Road will be closed between the traffic signals at Blind Lane and the roundabout junction of the A32.

The nearside lane of the A32 southbound at Hoads Hill, from the junction of the A334 to top of the hill will be used for parking.

Horse boxes will be parked on the east side of the A334, between the north end of the square and the junction at Blind Lane and Titchfield Lane.

Any vehicle parked in an unauthorised place will be towed away.

Signs have been placed along the route to give information about the road closure.

Residents have been given permits to let them pass closure points.

But the road immediately next to the entrance to The Square will not be passable.

A dedicated emergency telephone number for unforeseen emergencies has been given to residents directly effected.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys.

Chief Inspector Andy Houghton said the force has worked with local authorities and agencies to ensure the historic event goes ahead safely.
