MOTORISTS on the M27 faced delays this morning because of animals blocking the motorway.
Vehicles were slowed down on their journeys between Fareham and Bursledon after the incident was reported.
Traffic was delayed on the stretch of road for about 15 minutes from 6.30am.
During that time, a police car travelled at 20mph in front of traffic while another ahead of it scouted the area to make sure the creatures had got away. It was not immediately clear what sort of animals were involved.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: ‘Traffic was moving, it was just very slow, due to the road blocks put in place while the carriageway was checked.’
