POLICE have closed a number of country roads in East Hampshire following a serious crash.

Three people have been injured in the accident which happened on the A272 between the West Meon Hut pub and Langrish, near Petersfield.

A Mazda collided with a Volkswagen Passat at 9.45am, today (July 2) and the air ambulance was called to the scene.

The elderly couple who were in the Volkswagen were seriously injured, the female more so and were taken to hospital.

The Mazda was being driven by a man who suffered minor injuries.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area because of the road closures in place around Langrish.
