PORTSMOUTH’S Eastern Road was re-opened earlier today after a crash in which a woman died.

The 20-year-old victim was a pillion passenger on a green Kawasaki bike when the collision happened at the junction of Eastern Road and Airport Service Road in Portsmouth.

The rider of the motorbike, a 27-year-old man, received medical treatment following the crash, which happened at about 6.40pm yesterday.

He was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The Ford Focus driver, a woman in her 40s, was not injured in the incident.

The road was shut for more than six hours while experts examined the crash scene.
