TRAIN services are running as normal again after a tree which was obstructing the line was removed.

Rail passengers travelling to London from Portsmouth faced delays earlier this morning after the tree fell on tracks near Witley, Surrey, during the early hours.

Network rail engineers removed the obstruction and normal service has resumed.

But there is a slight hold up for passengers travelling from Guildford to Havant because there is a signalling fault at Farncombe, Surrey.

Delays of up to two minutes are in place.

A spokeswoman for Network Rail said: ‘There was a tree on the line at Witley which was causing some delays but the line is now clear.

‘We dealt with the situation as soon as possible.’
